About the game

Snake is a classic arcade game you can play in your browser: you guide a snake around a 24 by 24 grid, eating fruit to grow. The game ends if it hits the wall or its own body.

Each fruit is worth 1 point and makes the snake longer, so free space gets tighter and tighter. Speed also rises over time: every 5 fruits the snake moves a little faster, up to a limit. Your score is the number of fruits eaten. For more games in this style, see the arcade games.

How to play

1. Use the keyboard arrows or the W, A, S and D keys to change the snake's direction.
2. The snake starts with 3 segments, heading right, and never stops moving.
3. Move the head over the fruit to eat it, earn 1 point and grow.
4. You cannot turn 180 degrees at once; to reverse course, make a two-step turn.
5. Avoid the edges of the board and your own body, or the game ends.

Game modes

• 1 player. One player, in a continuous game without levels: it only ends when the snake hits the wall or itself.

Tips

• Plan your turn before reaching the edge: the wall cannot be crossed and it ends the game.
• After 25 fruits speed stops increasing, so from there the challenge is space, not pace.
