About the game

Pinball is an arcade game you can play in your browser: a vertical table with one ball, two flippers at the bottom and five round bumpers. The goal is to keep the ball in play as long as possible and rack up points before you lose your three balls.

Every time the ball hits a bumper it scores 100 points and gets kicked back with an extra push. The two rubber triangles near the flippers, called slingshots, kick the ball hard and give 10 points. When the ball drops off the bottom of the table you lose one of them, and the game ends on the third drain. For another ball-based reflex challenge, try Brick Breaker.

How to play

  1. Press Space to launch the ball up the lane on the right side of the table.
  2. Use Z or the left arrow to raise the left flipper.
  3. Use X or the right arrow to raise the right flipper.
  4. Hit the ball back up toward the bumpers before it slips down between the flippers.
  5. After each drain, press Space again to launch the next ball.
  6. When you lose the third ball, your final score is recorded; use Restart to play another game.

Game modes

  • 1 player. One player: three balls per game and a single table. The final score is the total of points from bumpers and slingshots.

Tips

  • Raise a flipper only at the right moment: raising it too early can send the ball the wrong way.
  • The two upper bumpers and the middle one are the biggest; keep the ball in the middle of the table so it hits several in a row.
  • When the ball comes down a side, a raised flipper gives it an extra push when you hit it.

Frequently asked questions

How many balls do I get in Pinball?

You start with three balls. Each one that drops off the bottom of the table is removed from the count, and the game ends when they run out.

How does scoring work?

Each hit on one of the five bumpers is worth 100 points and each hit on the slingshots, the triangles near the flippers, is worth 10. Your final score is the total.

What are the controls?

Z or the left arrow moves the left flipper, X or the right arrow moves the right one, and Space launches the ball.

Can I play on a phone?

The controls are keyboard-based and there are no touch buttons in this version, so the game is best on a computer.
