Who runs it
Sérel, the Bell Arbiter, is the heir to the Guardians of Aurora's oath: she learned from the old records what they promised, and raised the arena on a floating island so no kingdom could claim the ground.
Arena Fighters
Since the red sky over Breeze repeated itself for three nights, an arena has floated above the sea of clouds. There, twelve fighters from every corner of the world compete in the Tournament of Three Nights. The prize is not gold: it is the right to be remembered.
Sérel, the Bell Arbiter, is the heir to the Guardians of Aurora's oath: she learned from the old records what they promised, and raised the arena on a floating island so no kingdom could claim the ground.
Every fighter arrives with a debt or a promise. The champion gets one wish, approved by the Arbiter as long as it does not put the world at risk, and a place on the Arena's honor roll.
Each fight is best of 3 rounds. Whoever has more rounds when the final bell rings wins, and the tournament goes on until the crown is claimed.
When the bell rings, the round stops. Anyone who attacks afterwards loses the round, even if the blow landed.
Whoever falls loses the fight, not their life. Fallen fighters get up, bow to their opponent and go home with their name intact.
Before leaving, the round winner says one word to the defeated. It can be praise, a jab or advice. But it must be said.
The age of the seal
The Guardians of Aurora imprison the dragon beneath Rust Castle, using the crystal.
Three red nights
The eastern sky turns red and the first crack appears in the crystal. Sérel raises the Hanging Arena as neutral ground, where anyone can fight without swearing loyalty to a kingdom.
First edition
Six fighters compete for the first crown. Ignis wins, and to this day says Brutus was the hardest opponent he ever faced.
The northern roads
Goblins and skeletons surround the caravans. Vex starts running between them, and Kaito leaves Breeze to protect them.
Lumen wakes up
Volt escapes the workshops of Lumen, where she was one of the guardians' copies. Rex is sent to bring her back.
The edition of twelve
Mirage, Kuma, Zefira, Obsidiana, Volt and Nox join the contest alongside the veterans. The Arena has never held so many styles at once.
Now
While the tournament goes on, the last shard of Aurora pulses stronger. Whoever wins will decide, without yet knowing it, what becomes of the oath.
