About the game

Bubbles is a real-time arcade game you can play in your browser, in the style of cell games that grow by eating: you control a bubble in a square world full of food, other players and bots. Eat pellets and smaller bubbles to gain mass, and run from anyone bigger than you.

A bubble only eats another when it has at least 25% more mass. You can split into several cells to reach prey and eject mass, and there are viruses scattered around the map that burst large cells. Rounds last 5 minutes and the winner is whoever reaches the highest max mass.

How to play

1. Join a room from the lobby: Quick match, private room with a code, or against bots. A match starts with at least 8 players counting people and bots.
2. With the mouse, the bubble follows the pointer; the closer to the center, the slower. On a phone, drag your finger. The keyboard arrows also move.
3. Space (or the Split button) splits your bubble, which requires at least 40 mass.
4. W (or the Eject button) shoots out mass; you need at least 35 and each ejection takes 12.
5. Eat bubbles with less than 80% of your mass and avoid bigger ones. You are spawned with 3 seconds of protection.
6. When you are eaten, your max mass becomes your score. Restart puts you in another room.

Game modes

• PVP. Against other players: create a private room, share the code with friends and, if there are not enough people, the room owner can fill it with bots.
• Online. Online: Quick match puts you in a public room; after a few seconds of waiting, bots fill the empty spots and the round begins.

Tips

• You are protected for the first seconds: use that time to grab food and get away from the map edge.
• Splitting helps catch prey, but leaves each cell smaller and easier to eat.
• Cells from a split only merge again after 20 seconds, so split carefully.
• With mass of 160 or more, touching a virus bursts your bubble into several pieces. Stay away from them when you are big.
