About the game
Battleship is a board and strategy game you play in the browser. Each player has a 10x10 grid hiding five ships, and the match is a turn-based exchange of shots: whoever sinks the enemy's whole fleet first wins.
Your fleet is the classic one: aircraft carrier (5 squares), battleship (4), cruiser (3), submarine (3) and destroyer (2). Before firing you place the ships on the grid, horizontally or vertically, and confirm with Ready. If placement time runs out, the fleet is shuffled for you.
During the match there is one shot per turn, and even a hit passes the turn to your opponent. If the turn timer runs out, the game fires a random shot for you. Your score is the number of shots it took you to win, so lower is better.
You can play against another person or against the bot, on normal or easy level. If you like board games or strategy games, it is worth a look.

How to play
- Place your five ships: click a square to put the selected ship there, or drag a placed ship to move it.
- Rotate a ship with the Rotate button, the R key or a double tap on it. Random shuffles the fleet and Clear restarts placement.
- Confirm with Ready. The match starts once both players have confirmed.
- On your turn, click a square on your opponent's board to fire. Squares already fired at cannot be repeated.
- On the keyboard, the arrow keys move the focus between squares and Enter places or fires.
- Sink all five of your opponent's ships before they sink yours.
Game modes
- 1 player. Play against the bot, which places its own fleet and fires on its turn. You can pick normal or easy level before the shooting starts.
- PVP. A duel against another person, each on their own board with turn-based shots. Whoever leaves the match loses by forfeit.
- Online. Match over the internet: join quick play, create a private room to share its code, or join a room with a code.
Tips
- The bot on normal level hunts on alternating squares and, after a hit, tests the neighbors. You can use the same idea: after a hit, explore around it.
- Watch the clock: each turn has a deadline and, if it runs out, the shot is random.
- A ship can only be rotated if it fits the grid and does not overlap another; the game tells you why when it cannot.
Frequently asked questions
How many ships does each player have?
Five: aircraft carrier (5 squares), battleship (4), cruiser (3), submarine (3) and destroyer (2), on a 10x10 grid.
Does a hit give me another shot?
No. It is one shot per turn and the turn passes to your opponent even after a hit.
How does scoring work?
It counts the shots you fired to sink your opponent's fleet. Fewer shots is better.
What happens if I take too long?
There is a deadline to place your fleet and another for each turn. When it runs out, the fleet is shuffled or the shot goes to a random square.
