About the game

Tabletop RPG is a tabletop role-playing emulator you play in the browser. Instead of a ready-made adventure, you build your own encounter: create characters with a sheet, register monsters in a bestiary, place everyone on a gridded table, roll initiative and resolve every action with dice rolls.

The sheet uses six attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma), which can come from a 27-point buy or from 4d6 rolls dropping the lowest, plus nine skills. An attack adds the modifier, proficiency and weapon bonus against the target's AC; a natural 20 always hits and doubles the damage dice, and a natural 1 always misses.

The rules are not fixed: there is a rules sheet in JSON format that you can edit to change attributes, skills, difficulties and actions. The game validates the text before saving, and characters, bestiary and rules are kept in your browser.

Your score is the number of combat rounds. If you prefer a ready-made campaign, play RPG Adventure, or explore more RPG games.

How to play

  1. Press Start to unlock token dragging, initiative and actions. Creating sheets and rolling dice work at any time.
  2. Under Characters, open Create character and fill in name, attributes, trained skills and weapon. Under Bestiary, register monsters with HP, AC, attack bonus and damage.
  3. Use Put on table on the character card or Summon to table on the monster. Drag the tokens to move them across the 16 by 9 grid.
  4. Roll initiative with at least two combatants on the table: each rolls 1d20 plus their modifier, and the order appears above the actions.
  5. On each token's turn, choose the target, the weapon and advantage or disadvantage, then click Attack, Talk, Use skill or Flee. You can also click a token to pick it as the target.
  6. After each action the turn passes to the next one by itself. Pass turn moves on without acting, and the combat ends when all characters or all monsters are down or have fled.

Game modes

  • 1 player. One person runs the whole table: creates the characters, controls the bestiary monsters and resolves every roll. There is no artificial intelligence playing for the monsters.
  • 2 players. Two people on the same device share the table. The game does not separate players, so you agree on who controls which tokens (for example, one runs the party and the other the monsters) and take turns on the buttons.

Tips

  • In the point buy each attribute goes from 8 to 15 and the cost rises: 13 costs 5 points, 14 costs 7 and 15 costs 9, out of a total of 27.
  • Advantage rolls the set twice and keeps the higher total; disadvantage keeps the lower.
  • The Unarmed option swaps the character's weapon for a blow dealing 1 damage.
  • A character's starting HP is the hit die (d8 in the default rules) plus the Constitution modifier.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to keep my characters?

No. Sheets, bestiary and rules are kept in your browser's storage. Clearing the browser data erases everything. The ongoing table (tokens, rounds and log) lives only in memory and resets when you restart.

Can I change the game's rules?

Yes. The JSON rules sheet lets you edit attributes, skills, proficiency bonus, difficulty values and actions. The game checks the text and shows the errors before saving, and there is a button to restore the defaults.

Which dice and expressions can I roll?

There are quick buttons from d4 to d100 and a field for expressions like 2d6+3 or 3d4+1d6-2, with at most 100 dice per expression and dice from 2 to 1000 sides. The history keeps the last 30 rolls.

How does the score work?

The score is the number of the round the combat is in: it rises every time the initiative order completes a lap, and goes back to zero when you clear the table.
