About the game
Sliding Puzzle 3×3 is a sliding-tile game you play in your browser. Eight tiles numbered 1 to 8 fill a grid of nine spaces with one empty gap, and the goal is to put them in order, with the gap in the bottom right corner.
You can only move a tile that sits next to the empty space, and it slides into the gap. The board is shuffled starting from the solved position, using valid tile moves, so every puzzle has a solution.
Your result is the number of moves, and fewer is better. Want another logic challenge? Try Sudoku or browse the other puzzle games.

How to play
- Look at the board: there are eight numbered tiles and one empty space.
- Click a tile next to the empty space, above, below or beside it, to slide it there. Tiles that are not next to the gap do not move.
- Each tile you move counts as one move, and the counter sits at the top of the screen.
- Put the tiles in order from 1 to 8, left to right and top to bottom, with the empty space last.
- Press R or use Restart to shuffle a new board.
Game modes
- 1 player. Single player with no time limit: you solve the board at your own pace and what counts is the number of moves.
Tips
- Solve the first row (1, 2 and 3) before moving on to the rest, so you do not undo what you already arranged.
- Each click moves only one tile, so plan the path of the empty space before clicking to spend fewer moves.
