About the game

Maze is a puzzle game you play in your browser: every round you get a brand-new maze, generated on the spot, and you must take the character from the top left corner to the flag in the bottom right corner.

Every maze has exactly one path between any two points, so there are no hidden shortcuts: it comes down to exploring and backtracking when you hit a dead end. The first one is 7×7 cells, and each round grows the size by 2 cells per side, up to a maximum of 21×21.

The game has no losing condition: your score is the number of rounds completed, and more is better. A timer at the top shows the time spent on each maze. For other logic challenges, see Sliding Puzzle 3×3 or the other puzzle games.

How to play

1. Use the arrow keys or the W, A, S and D keys to move up, left, down and right.
2. The character starts in the top left corner. The flag marks the exit, in the bottom right corner.
3. Walls block movement: if there is a wall in the direction you choose, nothing happens.
4. When you reach the flag, the round is complete and, after a short pause, a new and bigger maze begins.
5. The screen shows the current round, the maze size and the time in seconds.

Game modes

• 1 player. Single player and endless: you go from round to round, with ever bigger mazes, and your score is the total number of rounds completed.

Tips

• Since there is only one path between two points, a dead-end corridor means you have to go back: do not waste time pushing on in it.
• The exit is always in the corner opposite the start, so it pays to prefer paths that lead down and to the right.
